Determination of actual depth of basement pile sinking; detection of thawed zones
A specialized proprietary technique is used for non-destructive determination of the actual depth of basement pile sinking. Example: In a building located in permafrost, cracks in the walls and floors started progressing in a fast-growing pace. The inspection under a part of basement piles short of reaching the bedrock revealed thawed zones that had caused deterioration of the basement bearing capacity. The engineering-geological horizons with thawed zones with increased water-content are shown in shades of blue.
